Anybody else seen this lately?

My client started crashing about a week ago. At first it was happening just every now and then. But I'm at the point now where it will reliable segfault and exit just after login, before the game window has finished rendering. I've downloaded a new package, to make sure something wasn't out of date, with no effect.

This is a debian sid machine, ATI 9250 graphics card. x.org R7.0 server, fglrx driver version 8.24.8, although interestingly my Xorg startup log indicates the driver was compiled for 6.8.99.8, whereas all other modules report they were compiled for 7.0.0. I guess that's where I'll start, but is there anything else to look out for?

Hrmn. I tried Ubuntu dapper on the same hardware, with the fglrx driver again, and had all OpenGL apps bombing out, with fglrx reporting API errors.

A little googling found this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185033) on the ubuntu forums, and switching back to an older driver has let me (finally!) log on again.

I'm suspecting a problem with the new driver was affecting my debian install as well, but I'm not really in the mood to reinstall and test it. :-)
