Just downloaded and updated the client.
After the client updates and any game selection is made from the launcher, a new window opens and I get this in the terminal window from which I launched it:

Xlib: sequence lost (0x10000 > 0x292) in reply type 0x0!

The address changes each time I access the window manager functions for that window.

In any case, the window itself shows nothing but a copy of the root window that was under it when it opened.

strace shows this pattern 1052 times in the test I ran:

poll([{fd=15, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 1, 4294967295) = 1
read(15, "\6\0\222\2\331+VK5\1\0\0\7\0 \3\0\0\0\0\364\1\237\0\357"..., 28) = 28
write(14, "X_AllocColorCells: 0 0x2920006", 30) = 30
read(15, "\0\0\1\0", 32) = 4
read(15, 0xffff5f90, 28) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable)

For reference, here is an lsof to match the file handles to:

Hello

Check this: http://www.atitd.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8932

Pluribus announced 31st March that FC5 users HAD to use the new launcher. Maybe the game bundle you downloaded still had the old launcher in it. Try it and then say if you keep getting the error or not, please.

Have fun!

If he downloaded in the last few nights, then he already HAS the new launcher :-)

Dropping me straces of the client or launcher does me no good... more appropriate would be a description of your system, (video card, ram, processor, if using a binary driver then the driver revision)

and a good description of what is/isnt working

EDIT: In general here are the things to check...

1) That you installed the game as the user running it. (The client REQUIRES write permission to the EVERYTHING in the eClient directory.

2) That your are not running the client as root.

3) With FC5 there ARE issues with SELinux... FaceAnkh says the following works, but there is no policy for ATITD. Any security implications related to tinkering with SELinux are on your own. (Personally I disable SELinux because I have to work on pre-SELinux boxes)
Quote form IRC:
<FaceAnkh> Pluribus[SOT]: looks like the only thing necessary for atitd to work on FC5 (with SELinux enforcing) is "setsebool -P allow_execmod=1" as root

If those dont help you, then I definately need the above. If you get to a bunch of menus, I need you ro email pluribus@pluribus.org a copy of the egenesis.bug file that is found in your eClient directory.

AH, it was YOU who sent me the email :-) Dude, your email is broken, it doesnt send out EITHER a reply-to: header (with a fully qualified domain name) nor does it send out your From: with a fully qualified domain name....

Ok, as for the issue... Do you have SELinux enabled? If so, be aware that the client ISNT SELinux aware since it is too new to be universally available. However, your issue appears to be very odd Xlib errors which dont occur else where. Have you run the following?

chcon -t texrel_shlib_t /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so
chcon -t texrel_shlib_t /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.8756
chcon -t texrel_shlib_t /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so
chcon -t texrel_shlib_t /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.8756

And RESTART X11 after doing this... Also, since this appears to be a driver/distro related issue, please do the following and email me the resultant nvidia-bug-report.log:

Please always include a copy of an nvidia-bug-report.log file, which can be generated with the `nvidia-bug-report.sh` script shipped with the NVIDIA Linux graphics driver and installed in your PATH. To make sure this log file includes as much relevant information as possible, please start the X server with `startx -- -logverbose 5` and run `nvidia-bug-report.sh` after the problem has occurred. If X can not be started or the machine appears to have crashed, please check if you can log into it remotely (e.g. via ssh or telnet) and run `nvidia-bug-report.sh` in the remote shell, if possible. If the machine can not be logged into remotely, please run the bug report script with X running (this will ensure that data points only available when the device is initialized, such as the VBIOS revision, are captured in the log file).
