None, The minimum required ram is 384MB... Really, However, if you REALLY are nuts enough to try it, make sure that whatever distro that you use has 3d accelerated drivers for your video card...

Type: glxinfo | grep direct
if the command doesnt return "direct rendering: Yes" then you need to figure that out first... NOTE: If you have a built in video card, then most likely the video card is stealing system ram for use for video rendering this reduces the amount of usable ram in the system by the amount that the video is using (usually 32-128MB) so your ACTUAL system ram will be 256 - (Whatever it is using)

Take a look at http://atitd.com/download.html for the system requirements...
Dont go any distro OLDER than redhat 7.3 (Which is what the client is built on) and if you use a GCC 3.x based distro you WILL need compatibility libraries.

If the min is more than 256 why the heck are you allowed to download the game at all?
This is what happened to me. 9 months ago when i first logged on, had really no problems at all. As the game got more graphic and complicated lag has steadily taken over so that in most places I can barely move. But by now I have some much time and monthly fees invested...
I do wish some warnings had been in effect.

Ok, if you can get me a cross platform way to scan systems for OS levels, video cards, drivers, and available system memory that runs from all browsers, I will look at tying it into the download system :-) That way you wont have to download any games that your admittedly minimal system might not support. 384MB has ALWAYS been the min memory the linux and Mac versions of ATITD. If you got it to work ok on 256MB then congrats, you got lucky.

NOTE: For Tale3, the min specs for the windows client will most likely be raised to 384MB of RAM as well. (Preferably 512MB ESPECIALLY if you have integrated video on the motherboard)
