Is there any difference between the windows and Linux clients visually? I end up with vastly different display textures (for example, the road in linux is white brick, while in windows, is a signifigantly higher definition cobblestone texture).
And yes, before you ask, I have all my display options maxxed. :)

Let me guess ATI card with 3.11.1 drivers? Complain to ATI over the quality of the drivers... (the 3.9 drivers worked fine, 3.11.1 either displayed black textures or rapidly consumed all available ram until the machine died. The ONLY workaround was to blacklist that driver)
By blacklisting, I force the client to not use any of the fancy abilities of the card.
NOTE: I have received NO reports good or bad regarding the new 3.12 drivers.

Nope, NVidia Geforce FX, with newest drivers.
I tried enabling -ats (and without).. no change.

Hmm, FX 5700 is capable of the advanced terrain system. It should be displayed for you. (I cant check because my video card ISNT ATS capable) However there were no changes in the September 8 client that would have had that effect.

This is a new install - Running fedora core 2, selinux/execshield/prelinking disabled (for cedega, initially), and the 6111 Nvidia drivers.
PM me if you'd like ssh access to the system to have a peek at current libraries, etc - or, if you'd like a specific set of rpm versions, let me know.
I tried installing to a clean directory (the first time I ran the game, I forgot to cd to the gamedir, so I ended up with patches in the wrong place), no luck.
