The Tale 2 beta client has worked fine for the past couple of days and now when I start it, it downloads stuff for a couple of minutes then gives me an error about wrong client version:
Server version: 2.4.42 Client version: 2.4.41
This error means that you're running an out-of-date version of the client. This shouldn't normally happen, because a program called 'the launcher' is supposed to keep you up-to-date. There are two common sources of problems. One, some people make the mistake of running 'eclientc' instead of 'elaunch'. Two, some internet providers interfere with the web by 'caching' web pages. This basically means that they are trying to save themselves bandwidth by providing you with out-of-date downloads. If this is the case, then you have two options. First, you can try downloading a new launcher from our website: we are always trying to make the launcher better at bypassing unreliable internet providers. Second, you can simply get a more reliable internet provider.
I contacted my ISP and they said they don't cache web pages, and I'm launching the client with the ./elaunch command.
